While the Forester has been a mainstay in the compact SUV segment for years, the new Subaru Forester Wilderness for sale is a relatively new member of the lineup. It builds upon the SUV’s storied capability with even more off-road-ready appointments and specs, such as additional ground clearance, a higher towing capacity, and all-terrain tires. At Hughes Subaru in Athens, GA, we’re ready to help you get into its latest version. Learn more about the 2026 Subaru Forester Wilderness for sale below, then visit us when you’re ready to experience it firsthand.
The Subaru Forester Wilderness was first introduced for the 2022 model year, but it has since evolved. It enters the 2026 model year with mainly styling updates that were added to the rest of the lineup during last year’s revamp. This means you’ll still find a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque under the hood.
The naturally aspirated engine is paired with a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a shorter final drive ratio for better low-speed control when going off-road. The transmission is connected to the brand’s Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system, which includes an advanced dual-function X-MODE system with driving modes that cater to various road and trail conditions.
After the power is routed through the drivetrain, it’s put down to the ground with Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires wrapped around Wilderness-exclusive Matte Black 17-inch alloy wheels. The Forester Wilderness also has improved approach, departure, and breakover angles compared to the rest of the lineup, giving it more clearance when traversing the path less traveled.

The 2026 Subaru Forester Wilderness now features 9.3 inches of ground clearance, up from its predecessor. That means you can safely venture off the beaten path with ease. Further aiding this higher ride height is the stature of the Forester Wilderness, which measures 182.9 inches long and 72.4 inches wide – it’s perfect for traversing narrow trails.
Inside, the Forester Wilderness is sized just right as well. Both rows have ample headroom and legroom, with the rear seat legroom measuring 39.4 inches. That’s enough space to fit three adults in the rear seat without any complaints. Additionally, the latest iteration of the Forester Wilderness comes with raised roof rails, LED fog lights, and anodized copper-finish accents for a sportier look.
Having a lot of interior room is great, but it’s what you fill it with that counts. Subaru engineers equipped the 2026 Forester Wilderness with water-resistant StarTex upholstery that’s easy to clean after those muddy off-road days. The interior is also adorned with copper-finish accents, and for the first time ever, the Forester Wilderness is available with an optional 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.

Although they may look similar, there are some differences between the 2026 Forester Wilderness and the 2025 model. Changes include the following:
